Student Government Association (SGA)

The South Georgia Institute Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the official voice of the student body, representing student interests and advocating on their behalf. SGA offers students a structured platform to express their ideas, address concerns, and actively contribute to the betterment of campus life.

The mission of SGA is to promote leadership, integrity, and community engagement by fostering self-respect, self-esteem, and a strong sense of personal responsibility among students. Through open dialogue and collaborative efforts, SGA works to strengthen the relationship between students, faculty, and administration.

SGA is the primary governing body for student activities and plays a vital role in shaping the student experience. Members of SGA are elected by their peers and include:

  • President

  • Vice President

  • Secretary-Treasurer

  • Three Sophomore Senators

  • Three Freshman Senators

SGA meetings are held weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters and function as open forums where all students are welcome to attend and voice their opinions. Students are encouraged to bring forward any concerns, ideas, or proposals to their elected representatives.

By participating in SGA, students have the opportunity to influence campus policies, lead initiatives, and serve as a bridge between the student body and South Georgia Institute’s leadership.
