Refund Policy

At South Georgia Institute, we understand that circumstances may arise requiring students to withdraw from their studies. The following policy outlines how tuition refunds are handled and clarifies the nonrefundable housing deposit.
1. Housing Deposit
-
A $200 housing deposit is required to secure a student’s housing space.
-
This deposit is nonrefundable under any circumstances, including but not limited to withdrawal, cancellation of enrollment, or loss of housing eligibility.
2. Tuition Refunds
Tuition refunds are provided on a prorated basis depending on the date of official withdrawal, as follows:
-
Before Report Date: 100% tuition refund (excluding fees and housing deposit).
-
During the First Week of Report Date: 75% tuition refund.
-
During the Second Week of Report Date: 50% tuition refund.
-
After the Second Week of Report Date: No tuition refund will be issued.
3. Withdrawal Process
-
Students must submit a formal Withdrawal Request to the Office of Admissions/Registrar.
-
The official withdrawal date is the date the request is received by SGI.
-
Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within 30 business days of the withdrawal being approved.
4. Fees
-
All fees (application fee, technology fee, activity fee, etc.) are nonrefundable once paid.
5. Special Circumstances
-
Exceptions (such as medical withdrawal, military service, or institutional error) may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by SGI Administration. Documentation will be required.
