Anti-Retaliation Policy

South Georgia Institute is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered environment where every student, staff member, and community member feels empowered to report concerns without fear. SGI strongly encourages the reporting of any conduct that may threaten the safety, dignity, or well-being of members of our community, including allegations of sexual misconduct or other policy violations.

SGI strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who, in good faith:

  • Reports conduct believed to violate SGI policy

  • Files a complaint or provides notice of an incident

  • Participates in an investigation, hearing, or resolution process

  • Assists or supports a complainant or respondent

  • Provides relevant information during an inquiry

No individual will be subject to intimidation, threats, coercion, harassment, discrimination, or any materially adverse action because of their involvement in reporting or addressing a concern.

Any alleged act of retaliation must be reported immediately to SGI administration or the designated Title IX Coordinator and will be promptly and thoroughly investigated. SGI will take all reasonable and appropriate steps to protect individuals who believe they may be at risk of retaliation.

Retaliation is considered a serious violation of SGI’s Community Standards. Any student or employee found responsible for retaliation will face disciplinary action, which may include suspension, dismissal, or termination of employment. Retaliation may constitute a policy violation even if the original complaint does not result in a finding of responsibility.
